Emergency Alert

[ARCHIVED] Extreme Winter Storm

HESPERIA, CA – Due to the unprecedented downpour that has resulted in over 3 inches of rain in the last 24 hours, and 6.5 inches in the last four days, which equates to the City’s annual rainfall, significant Citywide flooding has occurred. As a result of property and road damage due to these storm cells, the City of Hesperia has declared a local emergency and has activated the Emergency Operations Center to a Level 1.

The local declaration of emergency will allow for future emergency assistance cost recovery for both the City of Hesperia infrastructure and property owners. The City will provide more information as it becomes available on how citizens can participate. For the time being, residents are urged to document property damage, including times and extent of damage and photographs.

Despite improvements throughout the City, many streets are experiencing heavy flooding, and Public Works crews are working diligently to remove debris and keep major streets open for emergency vehicle access.
Citizens are being asked, if possible, to please avoid driving during these times of flooding.

Sandbags are available for Hesperia residents at all Fire Stations, the Public Works Facility and City Hall.
