City of Hesperia Township Program
The City of Hesperia is embarking on an exciting new program that will partner the City, local businesses, property owners and residents to dramatically improve the City's original township area. This new program will consist of the City designing two streets a year to be rehabilitated and improved. This program will strive to improve the aesthetics and safety of these streets by adding:
The Township Program will also offer a variety of incentives for property owners to make their own improvements alongside City improvements. Although this long-term project will take at least 10 years to complete, there are many programs all residents can take advantage of immediately.
Financial assistance programs are available to those who qualify for certain home improvements, including connecting to sewer. HCRA Rehab and Sewer Connect Program guidelines are available for viewing. To see if you qualify, contact April Antonio, Administrative Analyst at (760) 947-1909 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The improvements on Spruce and Smoke Tree streets of the Township Program were completed in June of 2012. While the original intent was for the City to rehabilitate two streets per year, the program has been put on hold for the time being. Originally, this project was funded primarily by the City’s Redevelopment Agency. In 2011, the State of California passed legislation dissolving all of the State’s Redevelopment Agencies, subsequently eliminating funding for the project. To date, no other funding source has been identified. Consequently, the project will remain on hold until such time that funding becomes available.
