Established in 2008, this program specifically targets “at-risk” youth in the community.
Supported by grants, local citizens and area businesses, the Hesperia Police Activities League (HPAL) provides rigorous, structured and highly disciplined training in “the fine art of fisticuffs” - competitive boxing.
The value of athletic competition in building the character and confidence of participants has proven to be immense. Open to boys and girls age 12-17, the HPAL program emphasizes and reinforces the following concepts:
- Respect (for oneself and others)
- Self-discipline
- Personal commitment
- Responsibility
- Citizenship
