American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (also known as ARRA, Recovery Act, or Stimulus Program), provides an almost $787 billion multi-year investment in the nation's economy, was signed into law by the President on February 17, 2009 and includes measures to:
Preserve and create jobs and promote economic recovery
Help those most affected by the recession
Promote investments needed to increase economic efficiency and advances in health and science
Invest in transportation and environmental protection for the long term
Stabilize state and local governments
One key purpose of the Stimulus Program is to create or save 3.5 million jobs over the next two years, thereby jump starting the economy as the nation tries to recover from a global economic downturn. Money will flow from the federal government to states, cities, tribal entities, nonprofits and other agencies and organizations. Funding will come through many different processes and a wide variety of goals and priorities.
The City has established this webpage to keep the public informed about how much stimulus funds the City of Hesperia will receive from the Stimulus Plan and how it will be used. Check back frequently as the City will continue to refine this page and will include tools that will allow visitors to track and monitor the progress of its Stimulus Plan-funded projects.
