Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

The Three R's
To change the way we think, the City as well as businesses and individuals have found creative ways to reduce and better manage Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), better known as trash or garbage, through a coordinated mix of practices that includes:
  • Source reduction
  • Recycling
  • Composting and disposal

The most environmentally sound management of MSW is achieved when these approaches are implemented in the following order:
  1. Source reduction and material reuse first
  2. Recycling and composting second
  3. Disposal in landfills last
