Public Service Grants

Overview
Out of the total amount of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds received, per program year, only 15% can be spent for Public Service activities of nonprofit programs.

Uses
The National Objectives must still be accounted for by these programs when the grants are awarded. The program activity uses can be for:
  • Employment services
  • Crime prevention
  • Childcare
  • Health service substance abuse services
  • Fair housing counseling
  • Energy conservation

The grant funds can pay for property needs for the public service agencies and costs such as:
  • Labor
  • Supplies
  • Material
  • Facility maintenance and equipment

The grants are awarded yearly through the public review process. All public services agencies that are eligible may apply for grant funding through the application process.
